The challenge
The rapid gravity filters were 40 years old and the works was at capacity, with no option to take it offline.
Our approach
Filters were rebuilt cell by cell with new underdrains, media and automated backwash. Temporary package plants covered peak summer demand. Our team now operates the works under a 15-year performance contract.
The outcome
Capacity rose by a third with no interruption to supply, and filter run times more than doubled.
